WordPress eCommerce website developed for Furncare
Client Overview
Furncare, a specialist in the design and manufacturing of high-quality furniture for the care home industry, knew how important it was to provide their customers with an e-commerce website. The website is an essential tool for their business, enabling customers to browse and purchase products online.
Requirements
Furncare customers and Furncare themselves knew they needed a new website, not just to improve the look and feel, but to improve the user journey, and better experience of using the website and to provide their customers with the ability to purchase their furniture online using multiple payment methods.
• A responsive website across all devices
• Incorporating their brand colours and logo
• Ability for customers to easily create bespoke curtains to their required specifications using a curtain configurator
• Ability for customers to easily create bespoke dining chairs, sofas, tub chairs, recliners, footstools, and lounge chairs using a configurator
• E-commerce website linked to Stripe payments to allow customers to place orders
• Ability to offer discounts to specific customers
• Ability to allow certain customer accounts to pay using purchase orders
Solution
PSP IT Design & Development Ltd already supported Furncare's legacy CRM system, and Furncare approached PSP to take over and complete the development of a new responsive e-commerce website in WordPress.
PSP’s approach to this project was to break down the tasks into work packets. Each area of the website that required development was given its own work packet, these were then assigned to a developer and then to a QA tester. This approach means PSP were able to easily track the progress of the project by the number of work packets completed, in testing, and ready for UAT.
The website was developed using the WordPress CMS platform, which allowed PSP to take advantage of features such as out-of-the-box functionality and plugins while also creating custom code for unique requirements.
Furncare is taking its customers on an exciting journey of e-commerce convenience. The site makes it simple for customers to register, administrators then receive an email to approve the customer. Once approved, users can log in, place orders with just a few clicks and track their orders and keep their shipping and billing address up to date. Furncare designed a selection of configurators, to allow customers to design their own range of sofas, tub chairs, recliners, lounge chairs, dining chairs, footstools and curtains.
Additional functionality around discounts and the ability to purchase without having to enter card details were also added, as well as specific logic for managing quite complex delivery rate options that are based on postcode, and different rules around product types being in the basket.
Conclusion
With the project, the work packet approach ensured that Furncare’s e-commerce website was launched successfully. The website’s functionality allowed customers to browse, add products to the cart and make purchases without issue. The styling remained consistent across the site ensuring that users enjoyed a smooth experience while shopping.
Our ongoing monthly maintenance services such as Penetration testing, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) checks and plugin updates continue to ensure that the website runs efficiently, providing Furncare with peace of mind.
